C.R.A.F.T 64 - Photo Inspiration

 Over at C.R.A.F.T this week we have a photograph for inspiration.
It's not necessarily a colour challenge - although that's absolutely fine - it's whatever you are inspired by it to do!

This week I have started on my Christmas themed cards and for this one, I've used a fab digi
- 'Snowbaby' - drawn by a talented designer called Jenni Hamilton from CardmadFairy Designs.


Like my own Eiglas digistamps and digital paperkits, you'll find Jenni's designs over at 'StitchyBear Stamps', the best digi shop on the web!

I've combined five 'Snowbaby' images and printed onto a good quality card, then coloured with my Copics and topped with Stickles and finished off with Fun Flock in white.

This image was then mounted with DS tape to a pale blue pearlescent DS type folded card (...but bigger...) card. Then a frame was made from a gloss-coated mid-blue card with my MS snowflake punches and a few snowflakes added.

That's it!

Simples!

Crafty Cardmakers 27 - Spotlight on Spotlight technique #2

I also made this digi card for our challenge on Crafty Cardmakers. A different slant!

The papers and elements are all from my own 'DitzyDaisies' digital paper kit and can be picked up for nearly no money ar 'StitichyBear Stamps'! LOL!

Spotlight on Spotlight technique! - Crafty Cardmakers 27 & Polka Doodles

I thought I'd done most crafty-type things in the many years I've been crafting but I'd not come across this technique before - you learn something new every week at CraftyCardMakers!

To say it was 'interesting' is an understatement - I can't tell you how many images I botched before vaguely succeeding with this one! LOL! Just shows - no-one knows everything!LOL!

The idea is to  leave one or more circular areas on your image not coloured in. Or you can do it the other way round and only colour in the circular area, as I have done.

Trust me....it's not as easy as it looks!

In the end, I've used papers from Creata, flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, the fabulous image is from the Doodle collection of HopeJacare and is coloured with my lovely Copics.
The glittery circle is a sticker from Paper Cellar.

I've also created this card with Polka Doodles in mind. They have a lovely competition on at the minute with a set of Letraset AquaMarkers as the prize!

I'd love to try these pens - I've heard so much about them and would like to see if they're as good as my faithful and lovely Copics!

C.R.A.F.T 63 - Mini-Beasts (insects)

Over at C.R.A.F.T we like to come up with unusual challenges occasionally and this week some clever-clogs has come up with 'Mini-beasts'!

This translates (..loosely..) to 'insects etc' so we hope to see some really inventive ways of showcasing those little critters in your entries. This does need to be the MAIN FOCUS of your creation - a tiny dangling butterfly charm just won't do!

My card is a 'Get Well' card, of which genre, I haven't made for a long time.

I drew the cartoon especially for this challenge and I am offering it as a digistamp to the first follower to comment on this post asking for it!

Doncha feel sorry for the poor chap? The bug's hogging the bed, the choccies, the fruit and even the Lucozade! Definitely nasty! LOL!



It's not yet on sale at 'Stitchy Bear Stamps' and I'll hold off putting it on until it's been claimed on here.

C.R.A.F.T 62 - Sketch & digi

Over at C.R.A.F.T this week, they've let me loose with a sketchpad again...! LOL! They're either very brave or very foolish......!



So here it is. And we have a little image to use too, from our lovely sponsor an image of our English National bird, the Wren.


This is what I've made with these things.


I used a 'Diamond Blue' pearlescent card as the base and made a jacket with an aperture from a silver-printed vellum. I trimmed this a little on the lower edge with a sliver of contrast vellum and a narrow satin ribbon in a silver grey.
I made a narrow mat in a similar manner and a maching tag from a few scraps.
The silhouette is from my own collection and is called 'SunAngel Silhouette' - it's available from 'StitchyBear Stamps' now.

I finished off with a few blooms.

Crafty Cardmakers - Spotlight on 'Punches'

At Crafty Cardmakers this week, we have a technique spotlight and the theme this week is 'punches'.

I rather like the Martha Stewart punches as they're so easy to use and have so many lovely designs.

My base card is a rose-coloured Bazzil 'Bling' and over that, a hammered cream card which I've bordered with the large deep Martha Stewart dasiy border.

This I 'daubed' with chalks to bring out the texture and to add a bit of interest

Next I used my Mega Curved Rectangle Nestie to make a mini-card to adhere to the front of the main card, and this I first mounted on some pink pearlescent paper I'd punched with another Martha Stewart small border punch.



I used some rose-pink ribbon to trim both cards, adding definition and made the tag with a tag punch and scraps of paper & pink mylar tape.


The large flower was created with a poinsettia Nestie and a blossom Nestie and the large leaves are individual leaves of a Sizzix poinsettia die.
