I find that Easter, as with other erstwhile religious festivals, the focus has wandered away from the true original meaning. So what's new? We Christians nicked most of the Pagan Festival dates and imposed our own over theirs too!
But in the case of Easter, I think that bunnies and eggs and chicks, whilst delightful - I love them all - should not entirely replace the passion of Christ. ( Leprechauns definitely should not even be in there! - where on earth did that come from?)
A lot of peeps think that Christmas is the main Christian festival but it's not, not really. If Jesus had not died on the cross and then been resurrected from the dead three days later (on the third day he rose again) then Christmas, as Christians know it, would never have been celebrated at all. There would be no Christianity and for all of its faults (the humans involved being far from perfect!) the world would have been poorer for that.
