September 12th

I just want to make my followers aware of an event over at OSSAT Challenge blog. I've copied thie folloiwing from their blog so I get it all right! LOL!

"Mark your calendars for September 12th.  We will be hosting a charity challenge for Autism Awareness. We will have lots of winners at the end of that challenge.  So get your thinking caps on and start thinking rainbow colors.  That is all I'm going to say.  Please feel free to take this badge and place it on your blog, telling people about the challenge Sept 12th and use this challenge blog link.

If you click on the same image on my side-bar you will be taken to Cameron's Dad's blog where you will read all about this lovely lickle boy and his condition.

Hop you'll consider entering the challenge - it should be a lot of fun!

I've actually designed a new digi especially for this event and it will be on sale after the event as it will be amongst the prizes on the day along with other donations from the other designers at StitchyBear Stamps.

C.R.A.F.T 65 - Milestone Birthdays/ Anything Goes.

We have some exciting news this week!
Well, it's a little bit bittersweet actually because the good news is we are having a DT Call so if you love C.R.A.F.T (and who doesn't?) and you fancy making the demo cards for our challenges, put fingers to keyboard and e-mail us with your details and a link to your blog, so we can have a nosey around.

The sad news is, we're losing about half of our team.....(...sniff...)  including me (Eiglas)....(..sniff sniff...) Andrea.....(...sniff sniff sniff...) the supertalented Julie (.....sniff ...sniffle sniffle...) and our wonderful leader for the past......well...AGE...Claire (HopeJacare)....(.....WAHHHHHH......!)

We all get on so well and work together so well as a team, it's a real bummer that life sometimes intrudes but, well, life does do that sometimes and this is one of those times.
We'll all be back now and then to do a Guest DT spot or perhaps act as a sponsor (like Claire is this week) but we're needed elswhere just now for a whole mass of different reasons.

However, back to this week!
Our theme this week is Milestone Birthdays / Anything Goes so any of the big birthdays are very welcome but if you don't have one then come up with something else that COULD be a BIG celebration.  For instance, my card was made for a very clever lad called Ben who has just got his GCSE results of 6 'A's and 6 A*'s ! What a celebration will be happening in his house tonight!

I must apologize for my photo! I'm usually so fussy over photos but I didn't have long to make this card (my neighbour asked me last night..!LOL!) so I was very rushed to get the piccy before the light failed this evening and I must have jogged the camera. (Of course I'd already given it to my neighbour so couldn't re-take...!)

I used the inner card 'filler box' from a tin of card and turned it on end so the 'hollow' looks like a stage.

To this, I added yellow card, creating 'wings' that fold over to create the 'front' of the card.
These I covered with papers - DCWV Rockstar to the front and back and a K&CO graffiti style paper to the 'wings' inner.

The front was finished with a blank cd adhered with 3D foam pads and a guitar charm. The alphabet spelling out 'Ben U.R.A ' is Tim Holtz Vintage. I shaded and distressed with Tim Holtz distress ink 'Black Soot'.

The male image on the inside, is 'TRMikey' by Louise Brigden and can be bought from Charmed Cards & Crafts. I coloured Mikey with my copics then decoupaged him, leaving enough of a blank piece of card at the bottom so you can fold it and adhere him with ds tape to the 'stage'.

Hope you like it - my neighbour was made up with it!

C.R.A.F.T 64 - Photo Inspiration

Over at C.R.A.F.T this week we have a photograph for inspiration.
It's not necessarily a colour challenge - although that's absolutely fine - it's whatever you are inspired by it to do!

Our fab sponsor this week is 'Donna's Den' who always come up with a wonderful prize for our lucky winning entry, and this week is no exception!

Lovely stash prize crafters! Pop over to Donna's Den for a peek!

This week I have started on my Christmas themed cards and for this one, I've used a fab digi
- 'Snowbaby' - drawn by a talented designer called Jenni Hamilton from CardmadFairy Designs.

Like my own Eiglas digistamps and digital paperkits, you'll find Jenni's designs over at 'StitchyBear Stamps', the best digi shop on the web!

I've combined five 'Snowbaby' images and printed onto a good quality card, then coloured with my Copics and topped with Stickles and finished off with Fun Flock in white.

This image was then mounted with DS tape to a pale blue pearlescent DS type folded card (...but bigger...) card. Then a frame was made from a gloss-coated mid-blue card with my MS snowflake punches and a few snowflakes added.
That's it!
Simples!
Hope you like it enough to pop over to C.R.A.F.T and enter our challenge!

Crafty Cardmakers 27 - Spotlight on Spotlight technique #2

I also made this digi card for our challenge on Crafty Cardmakers. A different slant!

The papers and elements are all from my own 'DitzyDaisies' digital paper kit and can be picked up for nearly no money ar 'StitichyBear Stamps'! LOL!

If you fancy trying different techniques (...any standard - we welcome newbies as much as anyone..!) pop over to Crafty Cardmakers - we have a technique demo every other week and it's not a challenge, we just want to see what you make!

Hope you like it!

Spotlight on Spotlight technique! - Crafty Cardmakers 27 & Polka Doodles

I thought I'd done most crafty-type things in the many years I've been crafting but I'd not come across this technique before - you learn something new every week at CraftyCardMakers!

To say it was 'interesting' is an understatement - I can't tell you how many images I botched before vaguely succeeding with this one! LOL! Just shows - no-one knows everything!LOL!

The idea is to  leave one or more circular areas on your image not coloured in. Or you can do it the other way round and only colour in the circular area, as I have done.

Trust me....it's not as easy as it looks!

In the end, I've used papers from Creata, flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, the fabulous image is from the Doodle collection of HopeJacare and is coloured with my lovely Copics.
The glittery circle is a sticker from Paper Cellar.

HopeJacare Doodles are available from StitchyBear Stamps, the best digi shop on the web!

I've also created this card with Polka Doodles in mind. They have a lovely competition on at the minute with a set of Letraset AquaMarkers as the prize!
I'd love to try these pens - I've heard so much about them and would like to see if they're as good as my faithful and lovely Copics!
If you pop over there, it's on until the 31st August.

I hope you like it and if you fancy having a go at this technique, pop over to CCM and enter it into our blog!

C.R.A.F.T 63 - Mini-Beasts (insects)

Over at C.R.A.F.T we like to come up with unusual challenges occasionally and this week some clever-clogs has come up with 'Mini-beasts'!

This translates (..loosely..) to 'insects etc' so we hope to see some really inventive ways of showcasing those little critters in your entries. This does need to be the MAIN FOCUS of your creation - a tiny dangling butterfly charm just won't do!

Our lovely generous sponsors this week are Craft Obsessions

They'll be furnishing us with a lovely prize for the lucky winning entry.

My card is a 'Get Well' card, of which genre, I haven't made for a long time.

.

I drew the cartoon especially for this challenge and I am offering it as a digistamp to the first follower to comment on this post asking for it!

Doncha feel sorry for the poor chap? The bug's hogging the bed, the choccies, the fruit and even the Lucozade! Definitely nasty! LOL!

It's not yet on sale at 'Stitchy Bear Stamps' and I'll hold off putting it on until it's been claimed on here.

I hope you like my lickle joke....!

C.R.A.F.T 62 - Sketch & digi

Over at C.R.A.F.T this week, they've let me loose with a sketchpad again...! LOL! They're either very brave or very foolish......!

So here it is. And we have a little image to use too, from our lovely sponsor an image of our English National bird, the Wren.

This is what I've made with these things.

I used a 'Diamond Blue' pearlescent card as the base and made a jacket with an aperture from a silver-printed vellum. I trimmed this a little on the lower edge with a sliver of contrast vellum and a narrow satin ribbon in a silver grey.
I made a narrow mat in a similar manner and a maching tag from a few scraps.
The silhouette is from my own collection and is called 'SunAngel Silhouette' - it's available from 'StitchyBear Stamps' now.

I finished off with a few blooms.

Hope you like it!

Crafty Cardmakers - Spotlight on 'Punches'

At Crafty Cardmakers this week, we have a technique spotlight and the theme this week is 'punches'.

I rather like the Martha Stewart punches as they're so easy to use and have so many lovely designs.

My base card is a rose-coloured Bazzil 'Bling' and over that, a hammered cream card which I've bordered with the large deep Martha Stewart dasiy border.

This I 'daubed' with chalks to bring out the texture and to add a bit of interest

Next I used my Mega Curved Rectangle Nestie to make a mini-card to adhere to the front of the main card, and this I first mounted on some pink pearlescent paper I'd punched with another Martha Stewart small border punch.

I used some rose-pink ribbon to trim both cards, adding definition and made the tag with a tag punch and scraps of paper & pink mylar tape.

The large flower was created with a poinsettia Nestie and a blossom Nestie and the large leaves are individual leaves of a Sizzix poinsettia die.

Hope you like it...!
